Loriene Perera

Loriene is a self-taught photographer from Singapore 🇸🇬 who has been dabbling in photography since she was 8. A stint as the editorial photographer of a college newsletter and taking a social photography class during her senior year inspired her to pursue photography as a career.

Shortly after graduation, Loriene started her path into photojournalism when she joined Reuters for over a decade as a photo editor. During her time at the esteemed wire agency, photos she contributed and real-time edited have circulated among major international news outlets (e.g., BBC, the Economist, New York Times, Wall Street Journal).

Loriene's approach to photography stems from her desire to capture the ephemeral and spontaneous moments of life. She strives to get her shots right in-camera and post-process to enhance rather than rescue images.

She is presently based in the United States 🇺🇸 pursuing a terminal degree in photojournalism and documentary video.
