Loriene Perera

Loriene Perera is a Singapore-born photographer and filmmaker working across documentary, editorial, and commercial photography. Her work focuses on people, food, community, and place, bringing a documentary approach to both independent projects and commissioned work.

She began her career at Reuters, spending more than a decade on the Global Pictures Desk editing breaking news and enterprise coverage of major world events, including U.S. presidential elections, the Olympics, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Her recent work includes From Diner to Destination, a documentary project exploring a small-town Ohio diner and its role in the local community and economy. She is currently expanding her commercial practice with a focus on food, hospitality, portraits, and businesses.

Loriene holds an MFA focused on photography and documentary filmmaking from Ohio University. She is a two-time ONPA Chuck Scott Student Photographer of the Year, a recipient of multiple National Press Photographers Foundation scholarships, and received the James R. Gordon Ohio Understanding Award for From Diner to Destination.

She is also an FAA Part 107 Certified Remote Pilot.
